Detox Your Home with these 30 All-Natural, Chemical-Free Cleaning & Body Care Recipes!

I don’t know why mosquitos love me, but they do! I can’t even step out into our backyard for a couple of minutes without getting bitten multiple times. I pretty much have to wear bug spray any time I go outside!

Last summer I decided to test out my essential oils and try out a homemade bug spray. I couldn’t believe it, but it actually worked (I don’t know why I’m still continually surprised when my oils work, I should know better by now)! My husband and kids even used it successfully when they went camping last summer.

Homemade mosquito repellent that actually works!

Since “mosquito season” is right around the corner, I’m sharing my homemade bug repellent recipe with you!

This recipe uses Peppermint Essential Oil and Purification Essential Oil Blend. Purification is a blend of Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Melaleuca Alternifolia, Lavandin, and Myrtle essential oils. Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Melaleuca Alternifolia (tea tree oil), and Peppermint are all considered to be natural mosquito repellents!

Homemade mosquito repellent that actually works!

I’m so happy to have found an all-natural, safe bug repellent that I can spray on my kids without worry. Plus, it smells good! ;)

Also, if we do happen to still get bitten, this very same spray can be sprayed on the bite to take away the itch! LOVE IT!

  1. Thanks for sharing your natural bug repellent. Mosquitoes love me too, unfortunately. One time last summer, I must of gotten bite at least 20 times, while my fiance didn’t get 1 bite! It was horrible. I’m excited to try this repellent out!

  2. I can see this being VERY handy to have a bottle made up around the back deck this summer :) Can it be left out in bowls or something also, to decrease the amount of bugs in a general vicinity as well, besides just spraying?

  3. I’m definitely going to have to make 2 batches of this!! One for hubby when he’s on the road and one for me here at home :)

  4. What does the epsom salt do?

  5. Carie Sams says:

Ok…so I have my spray bottle and my oils. I have pink Himalayan salt (I have heard this one was good too), but I don’t have the distilled water. Is that absolutely necessary, or can I use regular tap water??
    Thanks!!

  6. Where do you get stickers like those?!

  7. Jessica says:

Has anyone tried this yet just want to know if it really works the bugs are so bad where I live this year and my poor son loves to play outside but the bugs just love him

  8. Where did you get that awesome spray bottle? I want one just like it!

  9. Where can I get the bottle you show or can I purchase the stickers to put on my bottle?
